Which squirrel hair to choose for which fly?

Half-skins

The hair from the skins is perfect for dubbing the thorax of dry flies, nymphs and wet flies. They are also perfect for creating blends.

Squirrel tails

The hair from squirrel tails, being longer than body hair, is perfectly suited for making wrapped hackles, tails, mayfly or sedge wings, dry flies, wet flies and even streamers. Their strength and fineness are ideal for tying salmon flies.
