Most saltwater fishing rods are designed to offer raw power and ultimate resistance — that is the bare minimum for this type of environment and style of fishing. With our new R8 graphite, adding 25% more resistance relative to weight was the easy part, a simple evolution of the material, but one that also reinforced blank power, even down to our 6-weight model.
We increased pure pulling capacity without needing to add more material, fillers, or reinforcements. The result is straightforward: shorter fights, less stress on the fish, and reduced catch-and-release pressure on already fragile ecosystems.
