The Marryat Tactical Pro rod range: Competition-level performance at the service of fly fishing! Magnificent rods that deliver true sensations in action. This range is the evolution of the Tactical series and includes a set of 3 specialist rods for nymph fishing, the Tactical Pro Nymph Special.

Key features

• Blank: It handles two line weights. The lighter line delivers a lively feel, enabling technically refined and delicate fishing. The heavier line activates the progressive action, quiet power and distance.
• Grip: AAAA cork, as on the rest of the Tactical range.
• Guides: Fuji SIC for the first guide followed by REC Recoil TM Titanium/nickel guides to save weight and minimise "hard spots" on the rod. 
• Down-locking reel seat: keeps the reel away from the rod grip to avoid any interference with the fly line. In anodised 5040 aluminium, with a laser-engraved trout profile.

Which rod to choose for nymph fishing?

Depending on the fish you wish to catch, the choice of technique and therefore rod will vary. 

Trout with dry fly in rivers 

Depending on the size of the river, length will vary from 6' to 10' for lines ranging from #3 to #6. A versatile starting point is a 9' rod with a #4/5 line.

Trout / grayling nymph fishing in rivers

Depending on the size of the river, length will vary from 10' to 11' for lines ranging from #2 to #4 or with straight nylon. A good starting point would be a 10'6 rod with a #2/3 line for small rivers and a 10'9 with a #3/4 line for medium to large rivers. 

Trout and other species in reservoirs and lakes

Length will vary from 9'6 to 10' for lines ranging from #6 to #8. A versatile starting point is a 10' rod with a #7 line.

Predatory fish in freshwater and saltwater

Length will be around 9' for lines ranging from #6/7 up to #15 depending on the species. A versatile starting point is a 9' rod with a #8/9 line for bass, #10 for pike, #12 and above for tuna or exotic fishing.
