The Spey heritage, reimagined by Sage
The new SAGE SPEY reels have been specially designed for migratory fish anglers, offering a perfect balance between modern performance and refined traditional design.
They integrate a redesigned drag system, consisting of sealed carbon fiber discs combined with a double click pawl, ensuring reliability, elimination of unwanted spool rotation, and excellent sound in action. Balance and mass distribution have been carefully studied, with sizes adapted to Spey rods and an optimized reel foot positioning for consistent axial balance.
The new generation of SAGE SPEY reel combines all these criteria
- Properly balance the rod it is intended for.
- Ensure optimal storage of lines specific to spey casting during retrieval.
- The SCS (sealed carbon system) disc drag
- An adjustable drag knob with 39 indexed positions for precise and reproducible drag adjustment.
- New sealed O-rings for better resistance to compression and longer durability
- A new double click pawl system to prevent spool overrun during casts
- The placement of the perforations in the spool and frame allows for an ideal mass distribution when the reel is mounted on its rod.
- The reel foot has been slightly offset to improve the overall balance of the rod/reel combination
- The edges of the frame and spool have been rounded to improve line glide and prevent wear during retrieval.
- The closed frame also prevents any issues with the shooting line getting caught between the spool and the reel frame.
- The spool rim is also wider for better spool control during fights
Use:
- Size 5/6/7 ideal for light rods and delicate summer fishing for rods from 11' to 13'
- Size 6/7/8 the all-terrain size for rods up to 13'6
- Size 8/9/10 for powerful rods from 14 to 15'
