    Mepps Thunder Bug Spinner

MeppsThunder Bug Spinner imitates an insect, which is a real advantage during hatches or when the wind blows terrestrial insects (grasshoppers, beetles, etc.) onto the water. With its exclusive blade generating vibrations comparable to the beating of wings and its segmented body faithfully reproducing an insect, the Mepps Thunder Bug delivers an ultra-realistic presentation. Its durable finish, precise balance and versatile range of sizes make it a high-performance choice for targeting trout, perch, and other fish that feed on insects.

    How to choose your spinner?

    Size

Try to match the size of the prey of the predators you are targeting. Depth will also be a determining factor. For example, where a size 2 spinner is perfect at the start of the season, during low water (summer low levels), a 00 should be used to avoid snagging.

    Colour

While there are no absolute rules, here are a few pointers:

    • Silver: clear water in the morning and evening when the light fades
    • Gold / copper: brown, peaty waters (tea colour). It is the ultimate all-round colour
    • Black: perfect for bright light days or very dirty water
    • Fluo: perfect for very dirty water or low light conditions
