Designed for fishing horse mackerel and rockfish in Japan, the SV 51 paired with a small tapered soft lure imparts a very erratic action that triggers the reflex strikes of fast fish. This approach, known as winding or darting, consists of animating the lure with short, sharp, successive rod tip twitches to produce unpredictable lateral darts and trigger the aggression reflex. This animation is particularly effective for targeting inactive fish that need to be provoked in order to play on their aggressiveness. A pin placed on the hook shank provides good lure retention.
