Which casting reel to choose?
Rod balance
Choose a reel suited to your rod, that is to say a reel that will balance the rod, but also allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.
The bearings
For a casting reel, the crucial point is the spool's rotation capacity. The smoother the rotation and the lower the resistance to rotation, the further you will be able to cast and with lighter lure weights. It is therefore important to look carefully at the number and quality of bearings in the reel.
The ratio
Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80cm of line retrieved per crank. You will therefore need to choose the ratio of your reel according to the fishing techniques you wish to use.
