How to choose your casting rod?

    Lure weight

To choose your rod well, you must first take into account the weight of the lures you are going to cast. The maximum weight must not exceed the intended usage range for the rod.

    Rod length

Then, regarding length, a vertical rod will be fairly short to stay within the sonar beam for example, while a rod for fishing far from the bank will be fairly long (casting distance gain, obstacle clearance, etc.). In the case of a rod intended for heavy lures, length is sought in order to have a better lever arm, which makes hook sets and casts easier.

If you have any questions about choosing a rod, the appropriate rigs for your fishing area or the type of line (braid, nylon, fluorocarbon) to put on your reel, do not hesitate to contact us via our website, by phone or by visiting us in person at our Ardent Pêche store.
