Range of Penn Authority spinning reels, designed for demanding anglers, combining robustness, smoothness, and IPX8 waterproofing. Ideal for targeting large saltwater predators.
The Penn Authority series stands out for its all-metal construction (body, rotor, side plates) and CNC-machined stainless steel gears, ensuring optimal power transmission. The sealed Slammer drag system with Dura-Drag technology provides smooth, jerk-free progression even under heavy tension. IPX8 waterproofing protects the internal components from water ingress, offering exceptional durability. With 12+1 stainless steel bearings and a Leveline slow oscillation system, these reels deliver smooth and precise retrieval.
Designed for sea fishing, the Penn Authority spinning reels are perfectly suited to trolling, jigging, and all types of lure and bait fishing. Their robustness allows the largest models to tackle powerful fish such as tuna, bass, or tarpon. The smaller models are perfect for bass, but also in freshwater for pike-perch, pike, and catfish.
Choose a reel suited to your rod, meaning a reel that will balance the rod, but also one that will allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.
The spool diameter is a determining factor for a spinning reel. It must be in line with the size and positioning of the rod's first guide ring. The larger the first guide ring, the larger the spool diameter must be. The farther the ring is from the reel seat, the larger the reel must be.
Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80cm of retrieve per crank turn. You will therefore need to choose your reel's ratio based on the fishing techniques you wish to use.
