    Description

    Bates Fishing Hundo casting reel

The frame is machined from a bar of 6061-T6 aeronautical-grade aluminium for a dark finish, with no play whatsoever and impressive lightness. This is not just a (very) beautiful casting reel, but also a functional reel with 12 bearings, including 2 high-precision NMB bearings. It features a 7kg drag equipped with a ratchet system (like a spinning reel). It is perfectly suited to various lure fishing techniques (up to 60g).

How to choose a casting reel?

    Rod balance

Choose a reel suited to your rod — one that will balance the rod, but also allow you to cast the lures intended for the rod's power rating.

    The bearings

For a casting reel, the crucial point is the spool's rotation capacity. The smoother the rotation and the lower the resistance to rotation, the further you will be able to cast and the lighter the lure weights you can use. It is therefore important to look carefully at the number and quality of the bearings in the reel.

    The ratio

Another important point is the retrieve ratio. A standard ratio is 75-80cm of retrieve per handle turn. You will therefore need to choose your reel's ratio based on the fishing techniques you wish to use.

If you have any questions about choosing a rod, the appropriate rigs for your fishing spot, or the type of line (braid, nylon, fluorocarbon) to put on your reel, do not hesitate to contact us via our website, by phone, or by visiting us in person at our Ardent Pêche store.
