Why a long handle on this model?
A line weight 14 rod is designed to cast very heavy lines, often at long distances, with large streamers or tube flies, in windy conditions (e.g.: tarpon, GT, or tuna fishing).
The long handle allows the angler to use both hands, or to better anchor the lower hand, to increase lever power, relieve the main arm and improve casting stability.
With a line weight of 14, you target very powerful species (generally from 15 to 100 kg). The long handle allows you to better distribute the effort across the body, particularly when:
- fighting from a boat
- applying strong pressure with the rod butt (lifting, pumping)
- holding the rod in position for long minutes
It also provides a better grip for bracing the rod against the forearm or chest, which is common in heavy fights.
