A SAGE R8 Core 9' 6-weight fly rod for more demanding fishing

Power and versatility on big water

The SAGE R8 Core 9' 6-weight fly rod is ideally suited to more open water and demanding conditions. It covers large rivers effectively, casts bigger flies and handles sustained winds without sacrificing control.

Its fast action provides excellent responsiveness and makes it easier to generate line speed, essential for longer casts and clean loops.

Control and stability in all conditions

Built with R8 Core technology, this rod offers exceptional line control. Energy transfer is optimized to maintain excellent loop stability during false casts, mends and the final presentation.

Despite its power, it remains accurate, allowing for quality presentations even with larger flies or more technical rigs.

A reliable, well-balanced SAGE SHIFT LT 5/6 reel

Durability and balance throughout the outfit

The SAGE SHIFT LT reel perfectly complements this more powerful setup. Its machined aluminum construction provides strength and durability while keeping weight in check so the rod stays balanced.

With a 6-weight line, the outfit’s balance is essential for comfort and accuracy, particularly during long drifts or extended sessions.

A high-performance sealed carbon drag

The sealed carbon drag provides dependable control when fighting fish. Smooth, precise and consistent, it lets you handle stronger fish effectively, whether on the river or in more demanding situations.

The One Revolution drag adjustment makes quick changes easy—a real advantage at critical moments when fighting a fish.

A RIO Elite Gold WF6F fly line that makes the most of the rod’s power

Long-distance casting and loop stability

The RIO Elite Gold WF6F is an ideal match for this setup. Its taper supports medium- and long-distance casts with excellent loop stability, essential for accurately casting larger flies.

It remains versatile enough for different techniques, from fishing larger dry flies to nymphs and light streamers.

Optimized slickness and control

The SlickCast coating delivers exceptional slickness, helping the line shoot and making casts smoother. The ConnectCore Plus core increases sensitivity and control, while MaxFloat Tip technology ensures excellent flotation for clean drifts.
